I cannot recommend working with Lisa highly enough. Her advice on how to re-structure my argument and incorporate its claim for significance enabled me to fix issues that had been plaguing my writing from the beginning. Lisa clearly possesses a deep understanding of precisely how an article functions and how to get your own article into exactly that kind of shape. Not only was she extremely professional and insightful, but she offered positive and encouraging feedback (which you almost never get from academia). Perhaps most usefully, I left every meeting with a clear path forward. Lisa ensured that I had a list of doable next steps to complete so that I wouldn’t sit back down later and not know where to start. These sessions helped me move from being bogged down in an unstructured mess that I hadn’t made progress on in a year, to having my article out to the journal in less than a month. If you are looking for clear methods for improving your argument, detailed feedback on everything from your abstract to your word choice, and invaluable accountability to keep you on schedule, Lisa is the best editor for the job.

“ I feel like the individuals I have connected with in Lisa’s retreats truly care about one another. Many of the participants in Lisa’s retreats connect with one another outside the retreats and have become friends and a family of support for one another. The retreats are uplifting, motivational, and supportive. The Inspired Online Writing Retreats have helped me learn to use smaller blocks of time, writing sprints, and structure in a way that makes my work seem less onerous. The skills I have learned in Lisa’s retreats have transferred over into other writing groups I belong to and now I host writing/co-working sessions for a dissertation support group at my university. I could not have achieved this milestone without Lisa’s retreats.”

I cannot recommend Lisa Munro, PhD enough. She has been invaluable to my academic writing. Lisa helps me discern my argument, clean up my often wordy writing (like this post...), and focus my work.

“Lisa Munro’s editorial expertise went above and beyond anything I expected. She managed the revisions of my book manuscript with equal parts grammatical rigor and sensibility towards my own voice. As a native Spanish speaker, I feared professional edition could make my prose sound too foreign. Instead, Lisa enhanced my tone while making every line highly fluid and readable. My book wouldn’t exist without Lisa!”

When I first signed up for one of Lisa Munro’s Inspired Online Writing Retreats I was skeptical that an online platform would help me focus, decompress, and write. Wow, was I WRONG! Lisa has curated a community of care and practice that strives to nourish writers (both academic and non-academic) as they strive to reach their writing goals…”

Lisa really understands the writing and publication process. The workshop was engaging and I get to learn from other people's approach to writing and get quality feedback in a short amount of time. The workshop allowed me to really go through the necessary steps towards writing a peer-reviewed article! I enjoyed learning from other academic's work and felt inspired by their passion.

I had the great privilege of first working with Dr. Lisa Munro as a part of her 12-week course, Kickstart Your Journal Article, based on Wendy Belcher’s guide, Writing Your Journal Article in Twelve Weeks. The workshop was the most invigorating writing experience I have ever had. Dr. Munro prepared us throughout on how to approach journal writing, structure it, revise it, and support one another in the process. It was the first time someone gave me advice on not only how to write academically but also give constructive feedback. At the end of the process, I had a strong journal article, which is now under review with the leading journal in my field. Because of the experience, I then elicited Dr. Munro’s editing for my book proposal. She gave timely, detailed, and thoughtful advice, and I am thrilled to report my book is now under contract with a leading press for sport historians. Don’t wait; join now!
